Of Patterns and Practices

Of Patterns and Practices

Does the data professional need to know about Patterns and Practices? Well, if you're on the development side of things, you're more than likely already familiar with this term. At the bottom it's a list of "best practices" that you use to solve computing problems.

But does the data administrator need these as well? I think so. For one thing, as you move from a reactive mode to one that prevents problems in the first place, you'll need to write some code - probably in PowerShell. And even when you aren't writing code, there are practices and patterns you should follow, even for troubleshooting.

Here's a couple of links to help - the first is the Microsoft Patterns and Practices site on MSDN, and this is a great post for troubleshooting using patterns and practices.
